About VeloPark

Location: Olympic Park

Status
The velodrome will be a permanent venue, which will continue to host cycling competitions after the 2012 Games, transforming into a cycling hub in London. The BMX circuit will be brought down after the Olympic Games.

Construction began in 2008 and was completed in February 2011.

About VeloPark

Is situated at the northern end of the Olympic Park, the VeloPark includea a velodrome and a BMX circuit. Velodrome will have 6000 seats, which will remain after the Games. The 6000-seater BMX circuit will serve its purpose only for the Olympic Games and will be dismantled thereafter.

The double-layered building, that has a double curved roof structure, has been designed in a way that will symbolise the graceful geometry of the cycling track. After the games, the legacy VeloPark will be linked to a road racing circuit and a mountain bike course to be erected at Hog Hill, near Hainault Forest Country Park, and a mountain biking area will be built at the old Eton Manor site.
